Charlotte (Eunseo) Kim

Honorable delegates and fellow chairs,

Welcome to THAIMUN XIII! I am Charlotte Kim, a junior at Seoul International School (SIS), and I am beyond honored to serve as the Head Chair of the Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC) at THAIMUN for the second time.

THAIMUN XIII will be my 32nd MUN conference, and will also be my 15th conference as a chair. Sitting on the other side of the table as a chair, I often feel a great sense of nostalgia for when I was once sitting before a laptop, un-muting my microphone to deliver my very first opening speech online thirty-two conferences ago. Never did I then expect that I, four years later, would have traveled abroad not once, but twice to have the honor of serving as DISEC’s Head Chair at two consecutive iterations of THAIMUN.

As your Head Chair, I am more than excited to share my enthusiasm for MUN with you all. As delegates, remember that you all are more than welcome to reach out—you can always contact me through email or Instagram if you would like advice, if you have any questions, or if you just need someone to talk to! I am so incredibly excited to meet you all at the conference, and I already know that the resolutions we create and friendships we make will extend far beyond the bounds of this conference. With that being said—best of luck with preparations for the conference, and I look forward to hearing all of your amazing speeches, reading all of your incredible resolutions, and getting to know you all at THAIMUN XIII!

Esteemed delegates, honorable fellow chairs, and distinguished guests,

I am Eric Xin, a grade 10 student at Nakornpayap International School, Chiang Mai. I am honored and thrilled to serve as the Deputy Chair for the Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC) at ThaiMUN XIII. This will be my first time serving as Chair at ThaiMUN. I am extremely looking forward to it.

For me, MUN is far beyond just a conference; it is the place to challenge your idea, strengthen your skills, collaborate with delegates from diverse backgrounds, and debate on real-world challenges. ThaiMUN XIII will be my 31st conference, and like every delegate here, I have experienced firsthand the excitement, the debates, and yes, even the nerves that come with delivering the first speech in the General Assembly.

Now, as your Deputy Chair, my goal is to help you navigate these challenges, encourage your voices, and, more importantly, to ensure your ideas are heard. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me and throw tons of questions at me. I believe that every delegate brings something unique to the committee, and together, we have the opportunity to create meaningful resolutions and lasting memories. My Head Chair and I are here to guide, support, and cheer you on throughout the whole conference. With that, we wish you the best of luck with your preparation and can’t wait to see your creativity, passion, and teamwork in action at ThaiMUN XIII :)
