PARLIAMENTARIANS OF THAIMUN XIII

Hello everyone! My name is Dana Litvin, a senior at British International School Phuket, and I am beyond honoured to be one of your parliamentarians for THAIMUN XIII.

After three years in the MUN circuit I’ve pretty much done it all, I’ve been a delegate, a chair, a Secretary-General, and now a Parliamentarian. But if you told me that three years ago, I would have never believed you. MUN has truly been a life changing journey for me, it went from a simple extracurricular, to inspiring what I intend to pursue in university. I believe that participating in MUN is about so much more than just sharpening your debate skills and or understanding politics better. It allows us to truly understand each other. It’s quite amazing really, because that short moment when you understand someone’s argument despite having entirely different stances, gives us a little bit of hope for the future. That maybe, in this ever changing world, just the fact that we are able to understand each other, can help us build a better future.

Other than MUN you can probably find me cooking, binge watching movies and shows, sometimes even painting, although I’ve been so busy with being a senior that I haven’t found much time for that recently. I also have a little bit of a TikTok making problem, as I’m sure you may know if you’ve ever seen me at a conference (I’m very excited to make an APPROPRIATE number of TikToks this THAIMUN).

I would also like to extend my gratitude to the other members of the secretariat, the Secretary-Generals Vicka, Matt and Thyme, our other Parliamentarian. Working with them to make this conference is truly an honor and I could not have asked for a better team. I would also like to thank our incredibly hard working chairs and SMT members, without whom this conference simply would not be possible. Last but definitely not least I would like to thank Mr. John Wood, our THAIMUN Director, has made this conference possible for years, shaping so many incredible minds.

To conclude I would like to wish you all an incredible THAIMUN XIII! Please do not be afraid to speak up and step outside of your comfort zone. Even if when you go up to give that first speech your heart is beating out of your chest and your palms are sweating, and you think it's something you never want to do again, push yourself. That moment when you overcome that fear is truly incredible because that is when you find your voice, and after that, you’ll never want to stop speaking up, and hopefully those words will one day change the world. With that being said, I hope this conference will be one for you to remember. It will certainly challenge you, excite you, and you will most certainly make lots of new friends.

See you all in March, and good luck!

Hello all! I am Chaithammasorn Suwannagate (Thyme), also known as “The Pink Suit Guy”. I am an 11th grader at Roong Aroon International School, and I am honoured to be one of your parliamentarians for THAIMUN XIII. I have been in the MUN community for over three years and have been to over 30 conferences. This will mark my fourth year at THAIMUN, starting out as a delegate in my first year, chairing in my second, joining the SMT in my third, and this year I am grateful to serve as your parliamentarian.

Model United Nations has always been more than an extracurricular activity to me; it has been a community, a friend group, and a home. To be completely honest, I started out MUN as just something to boost my portfolio, something I believe roped a lot of people into joining their first conference. But the reason that I stayed for my second or third conference wasn’t because I wanted to strengthen my portfolio. I stayed because of the friends that I made in the circuit, or for the fun memories we made along the way, memories I hope that you get to make at THAIMUN XIII.

I would also like to thank everyone within the MUN community who made it possible for me to achieve where I am today. To the seniors who taught me the skills I needed when I first started out, the ones who gave me advice on what to do and what to say, reassuring me and supporting me along the way. To my chairs for every conference that I have delegated in, giving me a platform to speak and teaching me the RoP necessary for every committee. To the people who chaired alongside me, you guys taught me so much about what it took to be an amazing chair, the ones who took over when I wasn’t able to handle things. To the organizers of every conference I have been a part of, each and every conference has improved me and brought me to where I have come today. I sincerely appreciate the hard work and sacrifice you put into making your conference possible. To my teachers, advisors, and JW, thank you for endorsing me in my MUN journey, taking time out of your day to come chaperone me and my fellow delegates, to give advice on what to do and words of wisdom whenever I need it. Last but not least, to the members of the Secretariat and the SMT.

Other than MUN, you can find me practicing and performing Khon, or engaging in sports like basketball or football. In my leisure time, I play games like Minecraft (usually SMPs with friends) or Hearts of Iron (where I still can’t figure out most of the mechanics, namely the navy and tank design).
As we work towards THAIMUN XIII until the last bang of the gavel that declares the conference closed, I hope every single person involved has a great time, whether it be the delegates, the chairs, the SMT, or the advisors. I hope that each and every one of you gets a chance to learn something new or hone your skills, go far beyond what you thought you could achieve, and shine in your fruitful debates. And lastly, don’t forget… MUN is FUN! See you guys soon!!
