Hey delegates! I’m Alena, one of your UNHRC chairs this year at THAIMUN XII. This is my last year participating in MUN, and most likely my last conference in Thailand! Though I joined MUN later than most, I’ve fallen in love with it quite fast because I’ve met such an amazing group of people that welcomed me in, which is why I’m thrilled to be your chair, hopefully making this MUN a memorable experience for you all.
Outside of MUN, as someone who is passionate about leadership and advocacy, I’m the founder of a nonprofit called Her Potential, which focuses on fundraising to subsidize education for underprivileged women and girls in Thailand. Additionally, I’m actively involved in a diverse set of initiatives ranging from reproductive justice advocacy to creating accessible psychology resources for others, as well as leading donation drives and volunteering with children. These experiences have allowed me to connect my love for psychology, politics, and community service while being impactful. I’m incredibly excited to meet and work with all of you delegates in this committee. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions, concerns, or just want to chat! You can find me on Instagram at @alena_kantapura or email me at [email protected]. Can’t wait to see you all in March! |
Hi delegates! I am so delighted to have the opportunity to be one of the UNHRC Chairs this year. My name is Saira Sachdev (she/her) and I am a year 12 student at St Andrews International School Bangkok. I have been participating in Model United Nations conferences for the past two and a half years, and I take part in running the club at my school. Over the past nine conferences that I have attended, I have learned so much, gaining a global perspective to real world issues. I believe that MUN opens up a platform to be expressive while sharing meaningful ideas.
If I am not participating in MUN, you can find me doing competitive speech and debate, expressing myself through drama, and working on small projects. I also absolutely adore Billie Eilish, so you would definitely catch me listening to her music (lmk if you are a fan too!!) Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. I will try my best to help even if this is your 20th conference or first (I was once the quiet kid at the back so I understand what it’s like). My email is [email protected] and my Instagram is @sairasachdev, don’t be afraid to send me a dm! I am really looking forward to meeting all of you, see you all super soon!!! |
