Hello advocates and judges, My name is Samuel (Sam) Barta and I will be the president of the court for this conference. I am currently a Year 12 at Bangkok Patana School and the secretary general of our MUN ECA.
I have been to 7 conferences over the 5 and half years that I have participated in MUN. This will be my 3rd time chairing, having chaired the FDIC and ICJ before. I was also fortunate enough to participated in the ICJ at THAIMUN VIII where I had the privilege of winning the best judge award. In my free time I enjoy participating in contact sports as well as working on my academics. For some of you it may be your first time participating in the International Court of Justice. The ICJ is a very different style of committee where you focus on convincing a panel of judges instead of directly debating with an opposing block to find a resolution to a conflict. This requires a different style of presenting information and rebuttals that hopefully many of you will enjoy or even prefer. You will learn a lot more about this as we come closer to the conference. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at [email protected] or [email protected] |
Helloooo future lawyers, my name is Sathin (yes pronounced like the Satin fabric) Gupta (he/him), I’m honored to be this year’s THAIMUN ICJ’s vice president working alongside the president. I look forward to seeing all of your documents, speeches, and (maybe) making some very questionable objections.
ICJ can be an intimidating committee to some and certainly was for me when I first started advocating, but as an experienced advocate, I want to be of help in any way possible. As a previous advocate myself, I've made documents and gone through proceedings representing some very questionable clients, I hope to use my expertise to make ICJ go smoothly and enjoyable for all. Just a little more about myself. I am 16 years old, and I'm in y12/G11 in KIS International School (stands for Knowledge, Inspiration, Spirit, ironically I embody all those things ;). I've participated in 7 conferences, 2 of which were in ICJ. When I'm not (as one might say) MUNing, managing, or participating in clubs in my school, I'm either playing the drums, watching TV shows, or eating. If you have any questions about the chair report, or proceedings, or (as many chairs say) just want to talk, dont hesitate to contact me on my Instagram: cool_sathin, where my profile picture will help you understand my love for TV shows, or my mail: [email protected]. Excited to meet/talk to you all soon! |
